We are incredibly grateful to The Amazing Grace Project for raising $41,681 in support of Alliance for Smiles through their inaugural Golf for a Cause: Scramble for Smiles tournament in Vancouver, Washington.
Because of their generosity, 41 children with cleft lip and palate will receive free, life-changing surgery, giving them not just renewed health, but renewed confidence and opportunity.
A Mission Inspired by One Smile
The Amazing Grace Project was founded by Brandy and Husten Pettet, inspired by their daughter Grace’s journey with cleft lip and palate. What began as a deeply personal experience has grown into a powerful mission: to raise awareness and support for children and families impacted by cleft, build community, and empower others through education and community engagement.
Grace’s story is one of resilience, but also one of access.
Unlike many children around the world born with cleft conditions, Grace has been able to receive the skilled surgical care she needs. One of the medical professionals who supported her journey is plastic surgeon and Alliance for Smiles volunteer, Dr. Chris Zarella.
After learning about Dr. Zarella’s work with Alliance for Smiles, Brandy felt compelled to act. She dedicated herself to ensuring that other children, regardless of where they are born, can access the same life-changing care that Grace received.
A Community Comes Together in Vancouver, Washington
On May 7, that vision came to life.
The inaugural Golf for a Cause: Scramble for Smiles tournament brought together 26 teams and 104 golfers in Vancouver, Washington – all united by a shared purpose: expanding access to cleft care for children around the world.
But this event was about more than a day on the golf course. It was an opportunity to help provide life-changing surgeries, compassionate care, and increased acceptance and opportunity to children and families in need.
