My life and career have been dedicated to social justice, humanitarian aid, and increasing access to resources and opportunity for others, which is why I’m so excited and honored to be a part of AfS. With a Thai mother and a father who grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma, I had a real interest in and early understanding of relative poverty and how deeply it impacts people’s lives and futures.
After working for many years in the for-profit world, I was looking for a change – hoping to do something I felt good about – which is when I found Alliance for Smiles. The AfS mission of permanently changing the lives of both children and their communities was definitely something I could feel good about.
I’ve always loved storytelling, which led me to spend over a decade working as a journalist in India. I’ve worked across platforms – starting in television, writing for newspapers, and eventually serving as Executive Editor at a leading digital news organization. My work has focused on health, public policy, and social issues.
