CLEFT AWARENESS MONTH – JULY

Every child deserves a chance to smile. You can help make that happen.

July is Cleft Awareness Month, and Alliance for Smiles (AfS) invites you to take action to raise awareness and funds for life-changing cleft surgeries. Your support helps us provide free surgeries to children around the world who lack access to, or cannot afford, cleft treatment.

WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT AFS THIS MONTH

Host an Online Fundraiser:

One of the easiest and most effective ways to get involved is to host an online fundraising campaign
– Choose a platform such as Facebook Fundraisers or GoFundMe.
– Set a fundraising goal that feels meaningful and achievable.
– Share why AfS matters to you, and why cleft care is urgent and life-changing.
– Promote your campaign through social media, email, or local press.
– Thank donors publicly and celebrate each milestone.
– AfS can also help you create and set up an online fundraising page; for example, see Amazing Grace’s Campaign

Organize a Cleft Awareness Event:

Events can be virtual or in-person, depending on what feels safe and appropriate.
– Virtual event ideas: Dinner party, happy hour, trivia night, online games.
– In-person event ideas: BBQ, bake sale, raffle, game night, “Dining for Smiles.”
– Fundraising tools available upon request, including videos and slideshows.

Engage Your Club, School, or Workplace:

Get your team or community involved.
– Set a group fundraising goal.
– Present at a Rotary/Kiwanis meeting, classroom, or workplace gathering.
– AfS was founded by Rotarians, and we are happy to arrange a speaker for your club.

Raise Awareness Online:

~ Share AfS stories and transformation posts on your social media.
~ Record a 30–90 second video about why you support cleft care.
~ Use campaign hashtags to amplify your message:
