AfS Welcomes New Board Member: Vikki Cooper

Vikki is Excited to Join AfS as We Start a New Year!

Alliance for Smiles is pleased to welcome Victoria (Vikki) Cooper to our Board of Directors. Vikki has an impressive communications background and has worked with multiple high impact nonprofits.

She grew up  in Boston and graduated from Emmanuel College there before moving to Boulder, Colorado in the late 1970s. There, she raised her two daughters while pursuing an M.S. degree in mass communications and serving as an editor at the Boulder newspaper and then at the Denver Post.

Returning to Boston in the late 1990s to be near her aging parents, Vikki became the Corporate Communications Director at a high-tech management consultancy firm, launching its first website and several of its publications. When her daughters both moved to the Bay Area, Vikki followed suit in 2004, working first at the San Francisco Art Institute and then at Jewish Family & Children’s Services as their Communications Director.

Semi-retired now, she still loves to write and edit, rounding out her career working part time and remotely for an artificial intelligence startup in Sarasota, Florida that was founded by people she worked with years ago. She has followed Alliance for Smiles since she was active in the SF Rotary prior to her move to Marin County. She is looking forward to working with AfS to help the organization remain resilient throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and to go on to pursue our global work helping children obtain the cleft lip and palate surgeries they need to gain acceptance in their communities and achieve their dreams and ambitions.
