Mama's Reunion With Her Baby

MAMA’S REUNION WITH HER BABY

Imagine holding your precious baby in your arms; gazing down at her face for the first time since she underwent life changing surgery. If our loving families are any indicator, tears of joy and happiness would be flowing down your face.

For Operating Room Nurse Anne Partridge, witnessing this family reunion has been one of the most moving, beautiful and humbling experiences of her life. “I’m usually just in the OR; so my connection is with the people in there, said Anne. “To have the chance to be there when mama saw her baby for the first time… it will stick with me forever.”

MEET OUR FAMILY CARE TEAM
Mary McNabb (right), our Pediatrician, is the first and last face our patients see. She tirelessly admits them, provides post-op care, lovingly ensures each child’s wellbeing, checks on them in the ward and gives them their discharge papers.

Veronica Mak (left), our Ward Coordinator, is responsible for getting patients to the hospital; as well as safely guiding them from the ward to surgery and back.

Anna Gong (center), our Family Activity Coordinator, keeps patients entertained during the long hours before surgery and during their recovery. This usually involves some form of toy, sticker or bubbles.

Fun Fact:  Doctor McNabb singlehandedly performed checkups on all 110 children during our opening day clinic: working straight through lunch and into the evening. We salute you, Mary!
